Based on the initial timeframe, the voting period for the House of Representatives Special Election ends in a few minutes.
TheBlockTimes was there to provide another exit poll, and is now here to provide the official and final results of it.
After 33 votes, which isn’t the biggest of samples, it was a close call between two candidates, and the winner was decided after 9 rounds of eliminations.
NOTE: Total ballots were 33, which means that there’s a high chance that the actual election results are way different. 33 ballots are in no way a good sample, but the voting period was open only for 24 hours.
Culls received a whopping 11 (!) first preference votes, getting an early and strong lead into the exit poll. To win from the beginning, the latter would need ≥50% of the votes, which in this case, would be 17. After the first round, thewrench01 and JamesTheSlay were tied in 2nd and 3rd place with 5 FPVs, with vvirtue_ being 4th with 4. 5th was EATB, with 3 votes, 6th was SimplyPiano with 2, 7th, 8th, and 9th were TbbW82, Budgiebud, and TaqticalDuck all tied with 1 FPV (not in that exact order, since they were tied). Fede91218, YourLocalDiabeto, and Trishapotatoes0, received 0 first preference votes.
Round 2 eliminated all candidates with 0 FPVs, and TaqticalDuck was eliminated as well, since they lost the tie-breaker with Budgiebud and TbbW82.
In round 3, TbbW82 lost the tie-breaker with Budgiebud, and got eliminated as well, with thewrench01 earning +1 vote, going to 6.
In the next round, Culls earned +1 vote, and no one was eliminated. With Budgiebud’s elimination in round 5, vvirtue_ earned +1 vote, going to 5.
SimplyPiano’s elimination in the 6th round gave +1 votes to Culls and vvirtue_, for at total of 13 and 6 accordingly.
The 7th round is where vvirtue_ closed the gap with Culls, by earning +3 votes by EATB’s elimination, going to 9 against 13.
In round 8, JamesTheSlay’s elimination added +2 votes to Culls and vvirtue_ as well, making them climb to 15 and 11 accordingly.
In the last round, number 9, vvirtue_ earned +3 votes by thewrench01’s elimination, and had a total of 14 votes, which fell short to Cull’s 16 (15 -> 16, because of thewrench01’s elimination).
This means that Culls won the exit poll, by 2 votes, and a total of 16. The reason Culls won with 16 and not 17 votes, is because the poll reached a point where there were only 2 candidates, and no more people to eliminate.
Culls got ~33.3% of the votes in round #1, and after the final round, her had a touch over 48% of the total votes. vvirtue_ started with a percentage of ~12.1%, and finished the poll with ~42.4%, which is an incredible jump, though it wasn’t enough.
